CARITAS Ambassadors

Our CARITAS Ambassadors are a diligent and enthusiastic group of children who hold their faith and social fairness close to their hearts.  CARITAS team are a team who are blessed with faith, sound judgement and drive. They are fired by Gospel values and have proved willing and able to take a lead where they see need. The mission of our team is to react to the world around us in a Christian, Gospel inspired manner and to bring others along in support.

Our CARITAS ambassadors have been trained by Kathryn Ansley from CARITAS Salford and work together to plan events and support projects. We are part of the Our Lady of Hope Parish. Our mission as CARITAS ambassadors is to bring hope to our neighbours near and far.

We have a long established connection with the Cornerstone Centre in Manchester which is a CARITAS led day centre which supports people experiencing homelessness.

As a school, we have collected for Cornerstone many times to support their food supplies. This has included reverse Advent challenges and food donations throughout the year.

Each child receives a box each Lent to save pennies to support CARITAS Salford’s St Joseph Penny appeal.

Each year, we support CAFOD by talking part in the Big Lent Walk. Each class aims to walk 113 laps to the playground over Lent to help raise money for CAFOD.

We have been supporting the CARITAS Bee There appeal to raise funds for those that are struggling in Salford at Christmas time.

Each year, we host a Macmillan coffee morning to raise much needed funds for Macmillan. This is a cause very close to the hearts of St Luke’s as we understand the vital support that Macmillan nurses provide for those in need of their care.
